Battery and Motor
The Gtech Cordless Lawnmower 2.0 uses lithium-ion batteries to power the electric motor. This means no mains supply is needed to run the lawn mower and there are no pesky cords to get in the way, making it much less restrictive.
As mentioned, lithium-ion batteries are improving at a fast rate and this lawn mower features one of the best on the market. The 48V battery offers 40 minutes of runtime and can be fully charged in just an hour.
Both these numbers are impressive for a top cordless lawn mower. The 40 minutes of mowing time is currently up there with the best on the market, allowing it to be used on larger gardens with the runtime offering enough charge to mow approximate 400smq.
Many cordless lawn mowers struggle to offer enough runtime to mow larger lawns, so if your garden is on the bigger side then this a great choice, as you can easily mow medium and large gardens in a single charge.
The charging time is even more impressive. Being able to charge a 48V lithium-ion battery in 60 minutes is incredible! Cutting Width
Made from carbon steel and measuring 42cm, the Gtech Cordless Lawnmower 2.0 has an impressive cutting blade that produces a clean, precise cut each time. The redesigned blade is now more efficient, maximising airflow to reduce build-up from cuttings, while its also highly durable so won’t need sharpened for many years.
The cutting width is also a good size for medium and large sized gardens. On a medium lawn it will take far fewer passes to mow thanks to the sizable cutting width, while its big enough to cover lawns up to 400sqm before the battery runs out, which is certainly enough for most large sized gardens.
Also, the cutting deck is designed to reach further out than most convention lawn mowers, meaning better edging around the lawn. Basically, the deck will find it easier to catch those stray bits of grass around fences, edges, and flower beds that many mowers miss – this means less time trimming the areas it missed!
Cutting Height
A selection of six cutting heights makes the Gtech Cordless Lawnmower 2.0 a versatile lawn mower suitable for use throughout the year. Ranging from 30-80mm, these cutting heights allow you to remove as much or as little length as needed, ensuring a well-cut lawn regardless of how long the grass is.
The lowest heights are recommended for when you’re regularly mowing and only need to remove a short amount, while the higher settings are suitable for longer grass, letting you remove enough length without scalping.
Changing the heights is quick and easy, with the adjustment lever located at the middle of the cutting deck.
Ergonomics
One of the most impressive aspects of the Gtech Cordless Lawnmower 2.0 is how lightweight it is. Despite being a powerful lawn mower that is equipped for larger gardens, it weighs just 13.5kg so is very easy to operate around the garden.
This is because the battery technology allows much of the weight to be reduced, making it one of the lightest cordless lawn mowers in this size range. It’s a great selling-point because many people don’t want a lawn mower that’s going to tire them out after 10 minutes or be a struggle to manoeuvre around the garden.
The handles also have a comfort grip so won’t feel any fatigue, although they cannot be adjusted to different heights. You can fold the handle in half for easier storage but it won’t adjust the length, so bear this mind.
Grass Box
The Gtech Cordless Lawnmower 2.0 has one of the largest grass boxes around, offering a whopping 50L of storage for all those clippings. This means hassle free mowing as you won’t need to stop and empty the grass box several times.
There is also an indicator flap that you can use to check the capacity, so on the rare occasion it might need emptying you will clearly see that it is full.
Storage
The lawn mower folds down into a very compact shape for easier storage. You can remove the battery and grass to reduce the size of the mower, then fold down the handles to make it a fraction of its original size.
This is good news for people short on storage space! It’s also so light that you can easily carry to and from storage without any issues.
