Flymo Speedi-Mo 360C Review

Electric Motor

The Speedi-Mo 360C is fitted with a robust 1500W electric mower that offers plenty of cutting power. This is one of the more powerful electric motors on a rotary mower in this price range, so it performs very well against tougher growth such as thick, long grass that hasn’t been cut in a while.

Many top electric mowers struggle to find the same cutting power as a petrol lawn mower, and while the Speedi-Mo 360C won’t offer quite the same amount of power as a combustion engine, it’s certainly on the higher end and should be fine for even the most unkept lawns.

As corded lawn mower you do need to plug it into mains power, although there is a 12m power cord so there should be plenty of reach. The only issue is that this cord may not be long enough in very large gardens, although this can be offset by using an extension cable.

Cutting Width

At 36cm, the Speedi-Mo 360C comes with a good cutting width that works well on lawns of various sizes.

For instance, it’s wide enough that the lawn mower can be used on larger lawns without needing to make too many passes, while the blade isn’t too wide where it becomes an effort to navigate on narrower lawns.

Think of it as the perfect mid-size cutting width. It’s wide enough to work in large spaces but not too big and cumbersome for smaller spaces, highlighting how versatile the Speedi-Mo 360C is. It works just as well in a 100sqm lawn as it does in a lawn that is 250sqm and above.

There is a certain limit in terms of larger lawns though. For instance, if your lawn is around 400-600sqm then this cutting width probably becomes a bit too small, although it can certainly be used on lawns this size, just except it to take longer.

The blade is also made from hardened metal for added durability and cutting efficiency. Cuts are clean and don’t shred the grass blade, resulting in a very clean cut each time. You may eventually need to sharpen the blade, although this probably isn’t needed for several years, while you can also buy a replacement blade from Flymo.

Cutting Height

Any good lawn mower needs to offer a range of cutting heights to accommodate the different lawn lengths throughout the year. The Speedi-Mo 360C offers a decent five cutting heights that are all easily adjusted using the central lever found on the cutting deck. Just pull it up or down to change from different height settings ranging from 20mm to 60mm.

The lower height settings are a good choice for people that want a nicely maintained lawn.

For example, at 20mm the lowest height setting is very close to the ground, making is perfect for removing small amounts once or twice a week, which is recommended during spring and summer when the grass is in growing season.

Do this frequently and you’ll have a beautiful and healthy lawn!

Of course, not everyone wants to mow several times per week, while sometimes the weather makes it difficult to mow as frequently as we’d like. In these situations, the grass often gets longer, in which case you can swap to the Speedi-Mo 360C’s higher height settings to remove less growth.

Remember, you always need to limit how much length you remove each time you mow – generally around a third of the grass length – so the higher settings are good for removing less length when the grass is longer.

Go too short and the lawn might end up scalped, which doesn’t look good and can cause weeds and disease to develop.

So, to have a nice range of low and high cutting heights makes the Speedi-Mo 360C highly versatile. It’s good for low-maintenance gardeners that mow infrequently and garden lovers that want to be mowing frequently for the perfect lawn.

Ergonomics

Despite being larger and heavier than many electric rotary lawn mowers, the Speedi-Mo 360C is surprisingly lightweight and comfortable to operate.

It weighs just 11.5kg so won’t fee too heavy or cumbersome, which is a great achievement when you consider that it can cut overgrown lawns without much effort.

The handles feature a dual design that makes them suitable for left or right-handed operators. This feature isn’t as common as you’d think, so left-handed gardeners will certainly appreciate being able to use their strong hand when powering the motor!

Moreover, the dual handle offers a good, comfortable grip and doesn’t let any fatigue set in. As the 1500W motor is quite powerful it does produce a lot vibrations, so it’s nice t see that the handles are designed to offset any issues this might have caused through good ergonomic handle design.

Grass Box

The Speedi-Mo 360C comes with a large 40L grass box. It’s quite standard for lawn mowers in this size range but still very useful. Most lawns should be mowed without needing to empty the grass box, unless it’s a very large lawn, so most people won’t need to stop and empty mid mow.
