Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 Review

Battery and Motor

The Mighti-Mo 300 Li is powered by a 40V 2Ah lithium-ion battery, with a single battery and charger included with the lawn mower itself. Simply remove the battery from the centre and place it in the charger to fully recharge.

The charge time is on the higher side for a lithium-ion mower battery, taking around 120 minutes to fully charge. Newer models are often a bit quicker than this but when you consider the price range of the Mighti-Mo 300 Li (it’s one of the lowest priced cordless electric mowers available) its hard to be disappointed.  

Even then, some of the much costlier cordless models don’t charge that much quicker, with some of the best charge times being close to 90 minutes, so the difference isn’t massive. Plus, if you are a low maintenance gardener that isn’t mowing every week then the charge time shouldn’t be much of an issue.

The 40V battery provides around 25 minutes of mowing time when fully charged, slightly lowering if the lawn condition is tougher. This is a decent runtime for a cordless battery powered mower, offering enough time to mow up to 250sqm, making suitable for small and medium size lawns.

Cutting Width

The Mighti-Mo 300 Li comes with a hardened metal blade that measures 30cm, making it suitable for small and medium lawns, especially in tight and narrower areas where a larger lawn mower might struggle to manoeuvre.

It may struggle with lawn sizes above 250sqm as it would need to make a lot more passes to mow the entire area, forcing the mower to work longer and likely causing the battery to die mid mowing.

This is obviously something you want to avoid as the battery takes two hours to recharge, so the cutting width is generally only suitable for lawns no bigger than 250sqm.

Cutting Height

As is standard with most mid-size machines, the Mighti-Mo 300 has five adjustable cutting heights, allowing for easy mowing throughout the year. Sometimes you need to adjust the cutting blade position to suit the different seasons, so its nice to have a good selection ranging from 25mm to 65mm.

To change the blade height just adjust the lever located on the left side of the cutting deck, moving up or down as needed. The lower heights are perfect for summer and spring mowing when you are cutting the grass frequently and only need to remove a short length each time.

Of course, not everyone wants to mow frequently which is where the higher blade heights come into the play. These are suitable for when the grass is left longer, as you can remove a short amount without damaging the lawn, which can happen if you mow long grass with a low blade height.

Having five options is nice because it gives the option to change according to each users’ habits or according to the conditions of the lawn on the day you mow.

Plus, being able to quickly change the height using a lever on top of the deck is much better than having to use spacers or flip it upside down change the blade height.

Ergonomics

One of the most impressive aspect of the Mighti-Mo 300 Li is that it is very lightweight, weighing just 9.95kg. This is thanks to the cordless design that allows a lot of the weight to be removed from the cutting deck, offering users one of the lightest mowers designed for medium sized lawns.

As you might expect, the lightweight design makes the Mighti-Mo 300 Li simple and easy to operate. When using it for 25 minute you will barely notice any signs of fatigue as it takes so little effort to push and pull around the lawn, even in larger areas.

Many people with smaller lawns don’t want to invest in a large machine that is heavy and cumbersome to operate. Sometimes a small, lightweight model such as the Mighti-Mo 300 Li offers all the cutting power needed for mid-size lawns without forcing the user to overexert themselves.

The handles are also ergonomically designed, allowing for both left and right-handed operation with a power lever located on each side of the dual handle. You don’t need to push too hard and won’t feel fatigue setting into the hands when mowing for longer periods

Grass Box, Storage, and Safety

This model also comes with a decent size grass box, offering a 30L capacity that should be more than enough to fill clippings from lawns up to 250sqm. The box is located at the back and easily pulls in and out of place for quick emptying.

There is a large carry handle located on the central cutting deck that you can use to easily carry to and from the shed. The handles are foldable too, so the Mighti-Mo 300 Li folds into a compact size for storage.

A useful safety feature is also included, with a removable safety key letting the user disable the mower to prevent it from accidentally starting. This is very useful when checking the blade and underside of the mower, as the last thing you want is for it to accidentally turn on!
