Hi and Welcome to Garden DIY!
My Name is James Thornton. I am the founder and owner of gardendiy.co.uk. I have been gardening and doing various forms of DIY for over 25 years. After leaving school I worked in several garden centres, caring for plants and trees and offering customers gardening advice. This earned me the nickname of the plant nurse!
I went on to become a Horticultural Technician for a few years before starting my own local business which provided a range of gardening services which include:
- Lawn Maintenance
- Vegetable Tending
- Garden Design
- PRUNING (HEDGES AND SHRUBS)
- Stump Removal
- Applying feeds and pesticides
- Visual pest and disease identification
- Laying ornamental gravel path
So, what is the Garden DIY blog all about?
I have been asked hundreds if not thousands of questions over the last 3 decades in relation to gardening and DIY and the multitude of different ways to complete projects. This blog aims to answer many of those question as well as offer advice to anyone just getting into gardening.
The quote “you are only as good as your tools” applies to gardening and DIY more than anything else I can think of. Arming yourself with the right amount of knowledge (which hopefully you will get here) is a powerful beginning to becoming a better gardener but that will only get you so far.
I have worked with hundreds of different tools over the years and having good quality tools makes every job so much easier to complete. I cover a variety of different tools and equipment in the blog and give my opinion on which I believe are the best.
